In the assembly, Mrs Gill explained how Remembrance Sunday is a day observed in Britain where everyone is asked to remember the sacrifices made by others during times of war.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A handful of students then gave short speeches explaining different aspects of Remembrance Day, such as why poppies are used as the symbol, and when the tradition of remembrance began.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We were also very grateful to the Senior Section students who came over from the High School to talk to our children about Remembrance and why it is important, and also music students who performed the last post.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The teachers were incredibly proud of the way the children listened during the assembly. They participated admirably during the two minute silence, which can be tricky for the younger ones!<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In lessons this week the children have been learning about what life was like for the soldiers serving on the Front Line and being in the trenches, and they wrote poems inspired by WW1.
