Throughout the day, they participated in a variety of engaging activities that brought the world of ancient Greece to life.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">One of the first activities that students participated in was making Olympic wreaths.\u00a0 The girls began by plaiting three pieces of string together to create a rope headband. They then collected leaves from the playground and wove them into their headbands, crafting their very own Olympic wreaths.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Students completed a variety of activities in their groups including\u00a0investigating the differences between the ancient Greek Olympic Games and the modern Olympic Games. After analysing ancient Greek vases as a source of evidence they\u00a0enjoyed the challenge of solving a 2D Greek vase jigsaw picture.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A variety of sources of evidence were used to solve the clues for a wordsearch about Ancient Greek life, the Olympics and Greek gods and goddesses and the girls were then further challenged to write using the Greek alphabet!<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Students competed in a Wakefield Girls\u2019 version of the Olympic Games, competing in 6 sports: a relay race, hammer throw, javelin, standing broad stretch, shot put and discus.
