It was an inspiring morning, with our student speaker\u2019s encouraging their peers to pursue the sport.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At Wakefield Girls\u2019 our football club has run sporadically for a number of years. Historically, it has always been a recreational club. It is our intention over this academic year to make the transition to becoming a competitive club, offering more fixtures and really building on the team ethos.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We have two brilliant squads at U13 and U16.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We\u2019re encouraging as many students as possible to get involved and play football at Wakefield Girls\u2019. Not only is it great exercise, supporting both physical and mental health; it is also a great social opportunity to make connections and experience the joyous camaraderie that comes with playing \u2018the beautiful game\u2019. We are looking forward to our House Football competition this year!<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Since September we have already played Bruntcliffe, with more fixtures in the pipeline. Whilst we were unlucky against Bruntcliffe, there were some great positives and some really clear areas of development.\u00a0 We are looking to enter local competitions in the coming months, with a view to entering national competitions in the next few years.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For those interested, on a Thursday lunchtime we offer recreational 5 a side football, which is available for anyone to attend. We also offer squad training on Wednesday's after school, where we look at key skills and how we can implement these into a game.
