which is why we were thrilled to gain invaluable insight from several alumni during three days of careers and subject related workshops in London.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From Sunday 22nd to Tuesday 24th October, our A-Level Economics and Business students travelled to the capital, experiencing\u00a0 the breadth of career opportunities in the economics and business sectors and gaining a feel for what working and living in London is like. Furthermore they were able to see and discuss the real world application of both A level subjects.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The trip included visits to Oxford Economics, one of the leading independent global advisory firms providing global economic forecasting and econometric analysis.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students also visited Battersea Power Station, to listen and speak with alumna Liz Peckett; now a school governor. Liz was heavily involved in the regeneration project of the Battersea area. Subsequently they met one of the country\u2019s leading restructuring advisors, Matt Callaghan of FTI consulting. Matt explained his \u201cjourney \u201c from QEGS to London! Later, students met with alumni Steve Howell of Dark Horses Sports Marketing, who spoke about the exciting and creative careers in sports marketing. Finally, students met with Nick Padgett of McKinsey and Company, one of the foremost management consulting firms globally - about his journey from leaving school to becoming a Partner at McKinsey.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It was a great opportunity for the\u00a0 students to work on their important professional soft-skills, develop networking skills and get career advice from experts with years of experience in their fields.
