The Glitterball Trophy has been awarded!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Over the last term, students have been getting creative and choreographing their own dance routines in curriculum PE lessons. It took several lessons for the students to plan their routines and to memorise all the different moves. All groups then performed for their class and teachers in the initial judging round with 3 groups from each year group chosen to go through to the Finals.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Each year students learn and perform a different style of dancing, so that during their time in Juniors they get the opportunity to learn a variety of styles of dance and find a style that suits them and that they love.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This year's dance themes include:<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Year 3: Line dancing. They performed to Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Year 4: Cheerleading. They performed to Eye of the Tiger by Survivor.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Year 5: Bollywood\/Indian. They performed to Chogada Loveyatri by Darshan Raval &amp; Asees Kaur<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Year 6: Lyrical. They performed to Giants by Dermot Kennedy.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Monday we held the Year 3 and Year 4 finals, and it was extremely difficult for teachers to choose a winner. The staff commended the students for their synchronous performance, remaining confident and keeping a smile whilst performing some really tricky dance moves! We were also thrilled to have some individual, duet or small group performances by other students who are performing in the Dance Show later on this year. They have been rehearsing independently of PE lessons, either during lunchtimes or at home, and from their wonderful performances it was clear to see the hard work and practice that has been put into learning their choreography.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After a tense deliberation, it was ultimately decided that from Year 3, Lee won, with the team consisting of Aoife, Eden, Amenah and Thea. In Year 4 Clayton won, with the team consisting of Evie, Edith, Layla and Imogen<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Wednesday we held the Year 5 and Year 6 finals, with all Junior students and staff watching the performances.\u00a0 We were very impressed at how students maintained their focus under the watch of our big, lively crowd, giving great performances. Once again we had lots of impressive moves as students showcased their best\u00a0 dance skills - there were grande <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">jet\u00e9s<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, pirouettes, cartwheels, lifts and even the splits!\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mrs Wilson announced the winner of the Year 5 category, with the Blakey team winning, which included Tilda, Mimi, Arya, Olivia, Mila and Pippa. In Year 6 Mrs Haystead announced the winner, which was the Lee team which included Felix, Felicity, Alex, Annie and Anniyah.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Congratulations to all of the teams for their great performance and well done to the finalists who all received certificates.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our Year 4, 5 and 6 winners will be performing at our Dance Evening at QEGS Theatre at the end of April.
