In September 2022, students started working on Thursday afternoons during EDGE to learn more about the court system, the role of juries and prepare two cases for the competition. Over time they have scoured witness statements to prepare opening statements, questions for examination and cross examination of witnesses, and discussed strategies for compelling closing submissions.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The tasks required students to think critically, build arguments and develop their public speaking skills. F<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">or most students it is their first experience of the law and what\u00a0 better way to introduce them, than in a <\/span>fun and engaging<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> experience with their friends and peers. Our team took on the roles of barristers, witnesses, defendants, ushers and clerks.
