Preparation and entering these competitions encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are three certificates awarded by the UK Mathematics Trust:<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0<\/span><b>Gold<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0award is achieved by the top 6-7% of the entrants.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0<\/span><b>Silver<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0award is achieved by 13-14% of the entrants.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0<\/span><b>Bronze<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0award is achieved by 21% of the entrants.<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well performing candidates may also be invited to enter the European Kangaroo and the Mathematical Olympiad.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In October 2022, the Senior Maths Challenge took place in school for students who are aged 19 or below;
