The name originates from the surname of a past headmistress of our school who turned our school into a hospital during World War II. As a society, we meet once a fortnight to discuss hot topics currently in the news, new medical innovations, ethical conundrums and preparing for the various stages of a medical application. Alongside this, as President, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I organise speakers from a variety of healthcare backgrounds aligned with the interests of students in the society.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Meetings with speakers are also open to Year 11 students considering a career in an area of allied healthcare as this gives us a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more significant opportunity to share contacts and maximise the benefit of speakers, especially in more nuanced subjects. One of my favourite aspects of the medical society is being able to hear a larger range of opinions on topics with factors I may not have previously considered.
