Wakefield Girls’ High School

Wellbeing Week!

This half term has flown by at WGHS, it hardly seems a minute since we came back from the Summer! So what better way to wind down to the half-term break than with a week full of wellbeing activities?!

Wellbeing Week kicked off with Zumba classes on Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes for Year 7 and 8 respectively. All the girls got into the Zumba spirit and burnt off some energy in the high-intensity workouts, leaving everyone with a feel good factor for the rest of the week! After school on Tuesday, Sixth Form girls enjoyed a Skincare Masterclass!

On Wednesday, there was a Moana sing-along in the hall! Which Year 9 thoroughly enjoyed, singing with great gusto!

Thursday saw all year groups bringing in their best baking for the 'Massive Happiness Bun Exchange' at breaktime. The girls got through the buns and cakes so quickly that a second emergency batch had to be brought out! Year 8 also took part in a compliment cloak session, which involved the girls making cloaks out of paper and covering them in compliments for their peers.

Phone Free Friday began with Sixth Form girls handing in their phones at the end of assembly in front of the younger years. Staff and the rest of the school then handed their phones in too, so the whole school was phone free for a whole day! Year 8 took part in body image sessions throughout the day. During lunchtime, Year 11 had a Mamma Mia sing-along, Year 7-10 girls took some time out in the Happy Cafe and there were also giant inflatables on the quad!

All in all, a very busy week! Everyone had a great time taking a little bit of time out in their day to try new things and concentrate on themselves and their own wellbeing.
