Arkwright Scholar Georgia to be sponsored by Cardiff University

Prestigious Arkwright Scholar Georgia Hamblett (Y12) is aiming for a future in Engineering, describing the discipline as ‘the perfect blend of academia and creativity’.

Currently studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Product Design at A-Level, Georgia is already sharing her knowledge through her role as Product Design Student Leader, where she helps lead the Young Engineers Club in school.

With a wealth of work experience under her belt including with the RAF doing Aeronautical Engineering; Barnsley MBC doing Civil/Highways Engineering and a Taster Course at Sheffield University, Georgia is starting to think ahead to life at University where she is considering Engineering or Technical Product Design.

Having collected her Award last month, Georgia will be sponsored as an Arkwright Scholar by Cardiff University, which will include having a Mentor to help her with guidance and gaining related work experience.

Outside of WGHS, Georgia is a talented swimmer with Barnsley Swimming Club, with County and Regional Representative honours to her name.

She is currently mulling over Loughborough University as the place to continue her educational journey – could well be the perfect combination of Engineering expertise/research and sporting prowess for Georgia!
