Year 7 Induction

The carefully structured Year 7 Induction Programme begins in the term prior to starting at WGHS.

The Head of Year visits each girl in their existing school to discuss their move to WGHS. Parents are invited to two New Parents’ Evenings and there is an Induction Day for girls, with friendship-building games and activities with their Form Tutor and new classmates.

All girls receive a ‘Buddy’ from Year 8 who gets in touch with them and shares their experience of starting at WGHS. On their first day, they meet their ‘Buddy’ who shows them around the school and helps them settle in. This ‘Buddies’ Scheme is also applicable for girls entering WGHS into Years 8, 9 or 10.

Within their first month at WGHS, all Year 7 girls enjoy a special induction week. Four days are spent at Caythorpe Court - a residential outdoors activity centre in Lincolnshire. This provides the opportunity for girls and staff to get to know each other through a host of team-building and outdoor adventure activities. The final day is spent in school, giving girls valuable tips on study and organisational skills for life in Senior School.
