Year 7 is the main entry point into our Senior School although we do also welcome new girls into other years, subject to places being available. You can apply for a place at Wakefield Girls' whenever suits your family. Most girls join us at the start of the school year in September although we understand life changes do happen and we welcome girls mid-year. We are happy to help with all applications.
Our girls come from all over Yorkshire as well as our Junior School. As a city school within a 5 minute walk of the train station we are easy to reach by train as well as bus and car.
Deciding if Wakefield Girls' is the best choice for your daughter and family is best done by a visit with us. We aim to make this as convenient and stress-free as possible with a variety of opportunities. Choose to attend one of our Open Events or Book A Personal Visit any workday. Girls in Year 5 are also welcome to join one of our monthly Experience Days for a first-hand taste of life and learning at Wakefield Girls'.

Girls applying for a place in Year 7 are invited to sit our Entrance Exam at the end of January for admission in the following September and they are automatically assessed for scholarships through their Entrance Exam papers. Places for Year 7 are offered in February after Entrance Exams. Following acceptance of a place you will be invited to our New Parents Information Evening held in May where we will share with you a welcome pack. Girls can meet their new classmates and teachers and familiarise themselves with school before the start of term. In the meantime, your daughter will a receive a personal letter from one of our current Year 7 girls who will become her buddy and to help her settle in at Wakefield Girls'.
