Hockey & Netball update!

It's been a hectic start to the new academic year, particularly for the P.E department! There seems to have been Hockey and Netball fixtures on most weeks recently!

HOCKEY

The Under 9 and 10 hockey squads had an exciting afternoon of hockey at the Bradford Grammar School festival.

In fast and furious 5 minute matches in which teams played without a goalkeeper, the play was end to end with lots of goals scored. The Under 9 team played well in their section and went through to the play-offs to finish in a very credible 3rd place. The Under 10 team found the going a little tougher, drawing 2 matches and losing 3 matches.

Excellent play from Addison Bruce, Evelyn Crompton and Holly Biggin-Wilcox.

The Under 11 hockey squads also played at Bradford Grammar School in friendly yet competitive matches. Both teams put on a fine performance of dynamic attacking and solid defence and it was obvious that their hard work at hockey club is paying off. Both teams secured wins in double figures without conceding any goals.

Outstanding Play from Emelia Batty and Yvie Prior-Smith.

NETBALL

The Under 10 and Under 11 netball squads travelled to Sheffield High School for an afternoon of matches.

The Under 11 A squad played their best netball of the season and were unlucky to concede 2 goals in the final minute to come away with a draw. The Under 11 B team fought hard in all areas of the court and had a narrow loss. The Under 10 A team played particularly well in defence but did not quite convert their scoring opportunities in the shooting circle and only lost by 1 goal. The Under 10 B found it tough going and despite making real improvements in their play in the 3rd and 4th quarters, they left it too late to secure a win.

Final scores:

Under 11 A team drew 16 all

Under 11 B team lost 6 – 9

Under 10 A team lost 3 – 4

Under 10 B team lost 1 – 5

Outstanding play from Ellie Tingle, Maddy Patel, Mia Coxon and Ellie Burrows.
