Entry Procedure

The general rule which determines age of entry is that a particular birthday should fall between 1st September and 31st August. This rule is used throughout the Junior and Senior Schools.

Reception, Years 1 and 2

Entry to the school at ages 4, 5 and 6 is by a short assessment. Prospective pupils are invited to spend a morning in school to play and do some short assessments to see how they will fit in with the present year group.

Years 3 to 6

Entry to Years 3 to 6 is by a mixture of tests. These are to assess skills already possessed and future potential. Appropriate reading, comprehension and mathematics papers are completed along with standardised papers which show potential against national norms. Guidelines are available which explain what is expected in general terms.

Entry to Senior School

There is no automatic entry to Senior School. However for most girls it is usual for them to move to the Senior School as the next stage in their education. In a very few cases the staff may feel it is not appropriate for a girl to move there and parents will be advised accordingly.

Note: The school reserves the right to assess a girl's suitability for the type of education provided at that school.
