U16 Indoor Hockey team smash NE Finals!

Yesterday our U16 Hockey team headed to Bradford for the North East Indoor Finals.

A hopeful squad of 8 players, travelled to Bradford for the North East round of this year’s Indoor Hockey Championships.

After a slow start and a 1-1 draw against Egglescliffe, the team soon got into their stride winning 6-0 against Bradford and 3-1 against Thirsk. The latter being a textbook coach’s performance to nullify arguably the best player in the tournament. Topping the group stages then allowed the ‘easier’ semi-final against the runners up of the other group, Hall Cross, but a very confident performance enabled safe passage to the final with a 3-0 victory.

With progression to the next round being now guaranteed, the final against Yarm was largely about bragging rights and a free flowing and evenly matched game that ended in a 1-1 draw meant that the regional champions would be decided by sudden death shuffles. Guy calmly put his away to allow Alex to wrap up victory with a solid save and deny the opposition.

The boys now have to step up to the North round in Manchester on December 6th, where they can look towards qualification for the National Finals in January.

Congratulations boys!
