Sadly, one of our Year 13 students Faiq Aziz lost his sister, Minnie, a few weeks ago to a long battle with cancer.
Showing great strength of character and determination in very difficult circumstances Faiq decided to start raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support in her memory. He set a challenge of 734 km in a month as that was the number of days she battled against cancer.
The aim was to get a group of friends and family to do 5k a day, either running, cycling or walking to achieve the target and raise money in the process. A number of QEGS and WGHS students wanted to support Faiq in his challenge and 14 staff have also been taking part.
He has now reached over £5800 and the challenge is going really well. This is a fantastic achievement and speaks volumes about Faiq and the strong community of friends around him. We'd like to wish Faiq and everyone else involved all the best in keeping it going!
