Twenty eight teams from a variety of HMC schools in the area took part, with U9 and U11 winner’s trophies available. QEGS had seven teams involved in the six round tournament and all the boys represented the school impeccably.
RGS Newcastle, traditionally one of the strongest chess teams in the region, brought a formidable set of teams and were the eventual winners in both the U9 and U11 categories.
Special mentions from the QEGS boys are Aarush Senthil, winner 100% of his games, Ajay Kumar with 5/6 and especially Krish Daru who, as a year 3 playing in a year 4 tournament, scored an impressive 4.5/6. A full, fun day of chess was had by all.
Congratulations RGS Newcastle!
