Queen Elizabeth’s School, Wakefield prides itself on delivering an excellent education to talented pupils who enjoy their success, but also enjoy the journey to excellence.
We understand that consideration for how our pupils learn and develop is just as important as the content they learn. That is why our passionate team of specialist educators deliver our curriculum in extraordinary learning spaces. We work closely with individual learners to cultivate independent young adults with the skills and confidence to go out into the world, achieve what they never thought possible, and shape their future how they desire.
Our welcoming, stimulating, and confidence-building learning environments support our pupils on their unique learning journey. We tailor our delivery to suit the academic and extracurricular needs of our pupils, all the way from our youngest learners in FS1, right through to our young adults in Sixth Form.
This enriched learning experience is further supplemented by an array of educational visits throughout the academic year. These support academic performance by providing pupils with access to external resources and learning.
We strive to empower every single student and make the learning journey of each student at Queen Elizabeth’s both intellectually stimulating and carefully guided at every stage. In the Preparatory Section, pupils discover English, Mathematics, Humanities, Science, and most importantly, self-belief and confidence. We believe that all children should be encouraged to explore, be creative, and ask questions.
In the Senior Section, every pupil comes through our doors with a focus on developing an extensive educational grounding which includes English Language and Literature, Mathematics, French, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Art, Drama, Geography, History, Latin, Computer Science, and Music, as well as so much more. When pupils reach Years 10 and 11, seven core subjects are studied alongside three further personal choices from thirteen options, for a personalised learning journey at GCSE level.
At Sixth Form, pupils receive personal academic support and attentive pastoral care that empowers ambitious individuals to thrive. Each student is fully supported throughout their two years and beyond. With an average class size of nine, all our pupils receive dedicated one-on-one time with their subject specialist teachers.
Our dedicated Sixth Form spaces allow our young adults to study and socialise in a mature environment. pupils grow and thrive from many opportunities in leadership within the school community.
We aim to provide pupils with a well-rounded and solid educational journey from the age of three right through to eighteen, stepping confidently off our campus into Russell Group Universities, valuable and in-demand apprenticeships, or the ever-changing modern workplace.
Our approach seamlessly bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world success; our results speak for themselves, with 52% of all A-Levels graded A* to B and pupils feeling empowered and prepared for future success long after leaving Queen Elizabeth’s.
