Music for All

Music is an integral part of our school. Time after time, our musical performances leave audiences in awe of the talent on display.

At WGHS we firmly believe that extra-curricular music plays a vital role in our girls’ education and development. The Music Department cultivates a lively, active and happy atmosphere. It involves as many girls as possible, whatever their standard or previous experience, and provides a wide range of activities to reflect girls’ different tastes.

The majority of ensembles are collaborations with QEGS, further extending the wide variety of genres and musical interests catered for, with new ensembles constantly evolving to showcase their personal style and current musical stance.

A vast team of visiting instrumental musicians (VIMs) adds to the diversity of the musical opportunities available by providing tuition to girls wishing to learn an instrument or take lessons in voice or theory.

Girls have the opportunity to develop their skills in teamwork, widen their repertoire and enhance their general musicianship whilst becoming more confident performers both in and outside of school.
