In blustery weather, the mile long course took them across fields and through woods around the grounds of the College. Very strong opposition meant that the runners from WGHS had to dig deep and work very hard to maintain their pace and positions.
Megan Rees was the leading runner from WGHS finishing in 14th place with Ruby Shone 16th, Lucy Rushby 24th, Lucy Crook 25th, Abbie Grafton 26th and Hannah Jessop 28th. Holly Bestwick, Niamh Barrett, Mia Crecraft, Anna Schofield, Flora Whitfield and Charlie Grant all finished the course in very creditable times.
Approximately 80 girls took part in the race from 13 different schools across the whole of Yorkshire.
There is a full programme of Wakefield Schools’ cross country races when girls move up to Year 7 so KEEP RUNNING!
