The Humanities Faculty covers a range of related subjects. Those involved at each key stage are History, Geography and Religious Studies. At Key Stage 5 the Faculty also includes Economics, Business Studies, Politics and General Studies. Each subject has its own Head of Department or subject coordinator and has separate responsibility for curriculum development. The Faculty is chaired by Mr David Binney, who also has the responsibility of Head of History.
The Faculty seeks to pool expertise and coordinate teaching and learning strategies across the humanities suite of subjects. At Key Stage 3 there is a common marking policy, as well as joint approaches to the setting of common assessment tasks. In Key Stages 4 and 5 there are common approaches to target setting for individual pupils.
